Guinness Record: The world's heaviest avocado weighs 2.5 kg

The Guinness world record for the heaviest avocado in the world shot down a family in Hawaii.
The 2.54kg fruit - about 15 times the weight of an avocado - was collected by the Pokini family on the island of Maui.
The family's 6.1-foot-high avocado tree was planted when Mark and Julien Pokini's son, Loihi, was born 10 years ago, according to The Maui News.
The seed from which the family's avocado tree was planted comes from a tree on the farm of Mark Pokini's groom on Hawaii's Oahu island.

Victory on the second attempt

In 2018, the family made its first attempt to be considered one of the heaviest avocados in the world, but failed to obtain certification from the Guinness organization.
Finally in December 2018 it was confirmed that they had broken the record for the heaviest avocado in the world. But they received the certification last week.
Ms Pokini said she was thrilled that the family now holds a Guinness record. Her husband added that they made a huge amount of guacamole from the fruit.
In July 2018 human-sized avocados were sold in Australia. The so-called "Avozillas" weighed 1.2kg and sold 10.5 euros each.
